Residential TSCM inspections are routinely conducted at a variety of locations, including some which may surprise you.
Keep in mind a “residence” location may be a permanent or temporary residence. The thing they all have in common is a need for personal and informational privacy. Places we have conducted residential TSCM inspections include:
- home work offices,
- estate family offices,
- corporate apartments and guest houses,
- conference centers,
- hospital rooms,
- aircraft cabin bedrooms,
- and even staterooms on a cruise ship.
Some of the situations where we conducted residential TSCM inspections were pretty unusual as well. Take the cruise ship, for example. A large company hired a cruise ship to take two trips from New York to Bermuda as a promotion for a new product launch. “Why two trips,” I hear you say. Well, they had a lot of important people they wanted to impress, but didn’t want anyone to have a room without a porthole window. During the cruise, the company held many private meetings.
We have also conducted several residential TSCM inspections at hotels. Law firms conducting sensitive, large-scale litigation at locations away from their headquarters often book whole floors of a hotel. Companies holding off-site meetings at upscale resort hotels also call on us to protect their information from prying eyes and ears. Occasionally, we gets calls from celebrities and dignitaries who also require residential TSCM inspections.
Additionally, there is a need to extend security beyond the office or boardroom because work is often taken home. Any valuable information contained in those work files is probably more exposed in homes than anywhere else. The homes of executives, especially their home offices, are ripe targets for corporate espionage. Not only can intellectual property be compromised and stolen, both family privacy and safety are real issues.
