WIRED FOR SOUND

Robert MacNeil models three microphones and a wire recorder (all concealed on his person) in preparation for narrating “The Big Ear,” NBC News special about eavesdropping and wiretapping to be broadcast Sunday, October 31 (6:30-7:30 p.m. EST), in color on the NBC Television Network. Can you spot the recording equipment? (Answers below.)

Microphones: wristwatch, fountain pen, lapel button. They are connected by wires not to the attaché case (which could contain a tape recorder), but to a wire recorder MacNeil is wearing in a shoulder holster under his coat.
